Martial Arts Commission (MAC)
Membership
NOTE: The information here is abstracted from the
“By Laws – USA Taekwondo Martial Arts Commission, Inc.”
The Members of the Martial Arts Commission (MAC) are:
Commissioner
a. US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien
b. 30 years of age or older
c. substantially active (past or present) in Taekwondo
d. 4th Degree Black Belt or higher
e. willingness to volunteer time and expertise
f. USAT Registration Requirements - the following requirement applies to Commissioners who operate a Taekwondo dojang or club.
i. Within 30 days of induction
ii. Register as an individual member of USAT
iii. Register at least one (1) Taekwondo Club as a club member of USAT
iv. Register at least 15 members of that club as Individual members of USAT
v. Maintain those minimum membership levels
Associate Commissioner
a. US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien
b. 21 - 29 years of age or older
c. substantially active (past or present) in Taekwondo
d. 4th Degree Black Belt or higher
e. willingness to volunteer time and expertise
f. USAT Registration Requirements - the following requirement applies to Associate Commissioners who operate a Taekwondo dojang or club.
i. Within 30 days of induction
ii. Register as an individual member of USAT
iii. Register at least one (1) Taekwondo Club as a club member of USAT
iv. Register at least 15 members of that club as Individual members of USAT
v. Maintain those minimum membership levels
State Associations
a. Formed within the geographical boundaries of each of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico
b. Shall be not-for-profit corporations
c. Have the purposes set forth in the Articles of Incorporation of the Corporation
d. Adopt the standard Statement of Purpose for State Taekwondo Martial Arts Commissions
e. Obtain, by the first anniversary of if admission to membership, tax exempt status pursuant to Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
f. Remain in compliance (or promptly resolve non-compliance issues) with the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Codes of Operations, Rules and Regulations of the Corporation and the State Taekwondo Martial Arts Commission.
g. Have the right and obligation to conduct the State Taekwondo Championships for the State in which it is incorporated (with USAT approval)
h. Support the championships and athletic and educational activities of the Regional Taekwondo Martial Arts Commissions (RTMAC) for its region
Advisory Commissioner
a. US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien
b. 60 years of age or older
c. possess an extraordinary skill, knowledge or expertise
d. willingness to volunteer time and expertise
e. be appointed by the Chairman of the Board of by the President
Special Commissioner
a. US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien
b. 30 years of age or older
c. possess an special skill, knowledge or expertise
d. interested in supporting Taekwondo and the goals of the Corporation
e. willingness to volunteer time and expertise
f. be appointed by the Chairman of the Board of by the President
International Commissioner
a. Not US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien
b. 30 years of age or older
c. substantially active (past or present) in Taekwondo
d. 4th Degree Black Belt or higher
e. willingness to volunteer time and expertise
f. be appointed by the Chairman of the Board of by the President
International Associate Commissioner
a. Not US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien
b. 21 - 29 years of age or older
c. substantially active (past or present) in Taekwondo
d. 4th Degree Black Belt or higher
e. willingness to volunteer time and expertise
f. be appointed by the Chairman of the Board of by the President
International Advisory Commissioner
a. Not US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien
b. 60 years of age or older
c. possess an extraordinary skill, knowledge or expertise
d. interested in supporting Taekwondo and the goals of the Corporation
e. willingness to volunteer time and expertise
f. be appointed by the Chairman of the Board of by the President
International Special Commissioner
a. Not US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien
b. At least 30 but less than 60 years of age
c. possess a special skill, knowledge or expertise
d. interested in supporting Taekwondo and the goals of the Corporation
e. willingness to volunteer time and expertise
f. be appointed by the Chairman of the Board of by the President
Instructors
a. Anyone
b. 21 years of age or older
c. substantially active (past or present) in Taekwondo
d. 3rd Degree Black Belt or higher
e. willingness to volunteer time and expertise
Process of becoming a Commissioner
The following is the standard process for being inducted as a USAT-Martial Arts Commissioner:
1. Receive an application (i.e., be invited to complete and submit the online “New Commissioner” application
2. Alternatively to being invited, submit the online application knowing that prerequisites have been met
3. Complete and submit the application
4. Be approved
5. Be inducted
